Dr. Stefanatos received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from McGill University in Montreal and his doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Oxford in England. After a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Western Ontario, he taught at Trinity University and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He then moved to Philadelphia to become an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Director of Neuropsychological Services at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. In 1993, he accepted a position as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and began his own Center for Clinical and Developmental Neuropsychology. He then went on to pursue a research career as Director of the Cognitive Neurophysiology Laboratory at Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute and collaborated on functional neuroimaging studies with colleagues at the Center for Functional Neuroimaging at the University of Pennsylvania. After serving as Chairman of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Temple University, he now holds the position of Associate Professor and Director of the Cognitive Neurophysiology Laboratory.

Andrew DeMarco, M.A., CF-SLP, Research Assistant

Andrew DeMarco received his Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from Temple University in 2007 and his Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2009. As he completes his Clinical Fellowship Year, in Fall of 2011 he will begin his doctoral research at the University of Arizona's Department of Speech Language & Hearing Sciences under the supervision of Dr. Pelagie Beeson. During that time he will also be pursuing a Minor in Statistics. His research interests broadly include the neural correlates of language deficits in aphasia, neuroplasticity related to language function, and hemispheric specialization, particularly with reference to speech perception. He brings a strong background in computer science to the problems involved in data acquisition and processing using neuroimaging methods.

Lab Assistants

Ashley Alberta | Fall 2010 – Present | Seeking BA, Psychology (Anticipated, 2011)
Ashley Alberta is in her final year as a psychology undergraduate. Her desire to gain experience using neuroimaging techniques led her to the Cognitive Neurophysiology lab, where she performs EEGs as a part of a dichotic listening task focusing on ERPs. After graduation in Spring 2011, Ashley intends to pursue a PHd in Cognitive Neuroscience. Her own research interests include the use of neuroimaging techniques to explore high-order cognitive disorders.

Teresa Costanzo | Fall 2009 – Present | Seeking BS, Neuroscience (Anticipated, 2011)
